The global robotics industry is projected to grow from US$20 billion today to US$80 billion by 2025 driven by increasing demand from the manufacturing and services sectors. Singapore recognises robotics as a growth industry and aims to build an ecosystem that is globally competitive and differentiated. Through strategic deployment, advanced robotics can potentially help free up resources and improve productivity. Implementation of robotics will be a strategic move towards transforming Singapore’s manufacturing and services sectors and preparing for the future economy.
The workshop will enable participants to understand better about risk assessment methods and ways to mitigate hazards when deploying industrial robots and industrial robot systems. In addition, the workshop will also cover safety requirements for collaborative industrial robot systems and some international robotic standards. These standards covered include ISO 10218-1:2011 (Robots and robotic devices — Safety requirements for industrial robots — Part 1: Robots), ISO 10218-2:2011 (Robots and robotic devices — Safety requirements for industrial robots — Part 2: Robot systems and integration) and lastly, ISO/TS 15066:2016 (Robots and robotic — Collaborative Robots).
